And the Oscar Goes To ...
Are you thrilled at the very thought of the Oscars? For many people immersed in he movie world, the Oscars are the definitive moment that can make or break a film. February happens to be a very important month for those within the movie industry, and last night marked the 80th Oscar awards ceremony (February, 24th, 2008).
So, who stole the Oscar show? Well, unlike past years, this year’s Oscar ceremony did not allow one movie to sweep almost every category, though the Coen brother’s movie “No Country For Old Men” did send a chilling tingle down the spines of all those that were involved in the movie’s process. “No Country For Old Men” took the Academy Award for best picture. The other two highly anticipated Academy Award spots (best actor and best actress) were taken by Daniel Day-Lewis (“There Will Be Blood”), and Marion Cotillard (“La Vie en Rose”).
Almost every movie that was nominated took home some form of the “golden man,” which made this year’s Oscar ceremony rather uncontroversial. Interestingly enough, the top four awards that stole the show were given to those residing outside of the Hollywood area. Whether you agree with the nominations, or whether you were left scratching your head in wonder, the 2008 Oscars have been announced marking, yet another, milestone for many within the movie business. If you missed the show, you can catch a re-cap on You Tube, or on any entertainment news station. Though they come out one a year, the Hollywood stars will have to try a bit harder next year if they want to claim any Oscars for those actually residing within Hollywood.
